Water quality monitoring in Guanabara Bay

In August 2023, TideWise executed a water quality monitoring project in Guanabara Bay for the concessionaire Águas do Rio. The operation utilized the autonomous vehicle USV Tupan I to navigate a daily route of approximately 35 km, departing from and returning to Marina da Glória. Equipped with a multiparameter probe and an automated collection system, the USV performed station-keeping maneuvers at predefined points to collect water samples and environmental data, operating under remote control from the company's headquarters. The low-risk mission demonstrated the versatility of the autonomous platform in sheltered waters, featuring data redundancy via AIS transceiver and three levels of emergency stop (e-stop) to ensure operational safety.
