Collection of meteorological and oceanographic data

In September 2023, TideWise conducted a meteoceanographic data collection operation in the Campos Basin (Frade field) contracted by PRIO. The mission used the autonomous USV Tupan I vehicle, which navigated a total distance of approximately 252 km, starting and ending operations at the Port of Açu (São João da Barra/RJ).

Using wind and pressure sensors and inertial wave measurement units, the vessel was remotely controlled from TideWise's headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, with monitoring from a secondary station in the port. The project validated the efficiency and safety of the USV in medium-risk missions off the Brazilian coast, featuring advanced redundancy systems, emergency shutdown capabilities, and satellite tracking.
